Message from the Registrar of Companies

Irini Mylonas-Chrysostomou was appointed Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property in July 2022.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Master in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Nicosia. She is also a member of the Pancypriot Bar Association since 1991.

Ms. Mylonas-Chrysostomou was first appointed to the Department as an Examiner in 1993. During her 30 years of employment, she served in various positions in the Intellectual Property and Bankruptcy Branches (today a sub-branch of the Insolvency Department of the Ministry of Energy), but mainly in the Corporate Branch where she also Senior Officer and Branch Manager, before her appointment as Superintendent.

Her duties include implementing government policy to improve the business environment and protect intellectual property, as well as the supervision and management of the Department’s two related Branches. At the same time, he acts as President of the Intellectual Property Authority, while also performing the duties of Head of Mission of the Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to International Organizations such as the European Patent Office, the Intellectual Property Office of the European Union and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Her legal interests include corporate and other legal entity law, intellectual property law, as well as matters arising from the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering Law of 2007, on the basis of which the Registrar of Companies consists of in March 2021 the competent authority for maintaining the Register of Beneficial Beneficiaries of companies and other legal entities.

Ms. Mylonas-Chrysostomou was a member of the MEK (Sanctions Implementation Unit) and the SEOK (Economic Sanctions Advisory Committee) of the Ministry of Finance from March 2019 until July 2022. She is also a Member of AIPFE Cyprus
-Women of Europe, the Association for the Prevention and Addressing Violence in the Family and Vice-President of the Greek High School of Famagusta. In 2023 he has been appointed as a Member of the Board of Trade Representatives.
